Don’t Stereotype Addiction

It is not uncommon to hear of successful doctors losing their license to practice as a consequence of addiction, a mother losing custody of her children or a college student having to drop out of college because of their addiction.

Rob Lowe recently did a television interview in which he talked about his journey as a man who is free of chemical dependency. Lowe gives great praises to the addiction treatment center that he went to. He feels that individuals need to follow direction from others when it comes to getting sober from drug addiction and alcohol abuse.

Suboxone and methadone are often used by individuals who are trying to stop their addiction to opiates. The problem with drugs like suboxone and methodone and those similar is that they are also addictive and can lead one down a very similar path as addiction to other drugs.

Addiction Doesn’t Discriminate

Addiction to drugs and alcohol does not discriminate. Lawyers, doctors, politicians… are just as susceptible to addiction then the homeless man on the street. No matter how bad an addiction it is never to late to get help and change the negative course caused by addiction.
